Ideal Time for Snowfall in Manali

The winter months from late November to February are the ideal time to experience snowfall in Manali. This hill station receives generous snowfall starting end of November which continues till February end or early March.

On average, Manali receives its first snowfall of the season in the last week of November. Sometimes if the weather conditions are favorable, areas like Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley may receive early-season snow in mid-November. But usually, snowfall picks up pace by the end of November once the western disturbance winds bring moisture-laden clouds.

The months of December and January are usually the peak snowfall months in Manali. New Year's Eve is an especially popular time when hotel rates are hiked to maximum and availability scarce due to huge tourist demand to celebrate amidst a thick blanket of snow. Numerous snow activities like skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, igloo stays, etc also operate in full swing this time of year.

During February the snowfall starts to reduce but continues intermittently. By early to mid-March the snow starts melting rapidly indicating the end of the winter season. Mid-March to May is spring blossom season with melting snow giving way to blooming flowers all over Manali Valley.
